My background is in nursing and health care. For many years I worked as a registered nurse (RN) in several different specialties including public health, men's health, orthopedics and general surgery. On moving to Canada, I changed my focus to early childhood, concentrating on health promotion messaging and working as a parent educator/coach. Throughout my career there's always been an element of coaching. I use a strengths based approach, focusing on problem solving and moving forward.
I think that Change & Thrive has been in my mind for quite a few years, just waiting to be allowed to come to life. I was pondering how I developed such an interest in midlife, and it basically came about because I had so many questions about my own midlife transitions, so many questions... I hated my job, was desperate for a change, was starting a process of seeking out new interests and people. I didn't know if this was normal, and I wondered if other people felt the same way. Turns out: it is, they did and they definitely do!
At the age of 44, I embarked on an MSc in Psychology. I spent two and a half years planning and researching midlife as my chosen dissertation topic.
Eventually I completed: Midlife transitions:
Learning from personal experiences
My work is very much inspired by the
participants of my research study - From the
experiences that they so generously
shared with me. My learning drives me to help
people navigate the changes and transitions that they experience in a way that works best for them.
I have a special interest in working with individuals who are in their midlife, are coming up to retirement age, or undergoing a life transition.
PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT provide counselling services.
